Dear friends

“Love is inventive to the point of infinity” said St Vincent of Paul. Numerous associations try to comfort those who are touched by misery, loneliness or sickness. Among them, “Heart’s Home” is an NPO founded in 1990 by a priest, Thierry de Roucy, and located in 18 countries (http://usa.heartshome.org/). Its mission is simple: to become a listening presence to those who are suffering the most.

Starting July 2012, I will join for 14 month other volunteers in Brooklyn, New York. In this cosmopolitan and developed city, loneliness and poverty are sometimes more unperceived than in poor countries. Heart’s Home moved from the Bronx to Brooklyn four years ago (http://usa.heartshome.org/A-new-start-in-Brooklyn-Testimony.html). Everyday we will learn to make ourselves available. Available to the thousands of faces we will meet. These faces will become little by little true friends. Homebound, elderly, disabled, sick people, women in shelter… The needs are immense and exceed me! However, thanks to your support my presence will carry comfort, consolation and hope around it. – Through prayer: saying one decade of the rosary daily for me and the per­sons I serve

– Through financial donation: you will contribute to cover health insur­ance, trans­porta­tion, room and board, living expenses and training expenses (450 euros/month/volunteer)

In return I will pray for you with all my heart and will send every 2 months a letter to tell you about the encounters and the life at Heart’s Home in Brooklyn. I contribute to the expenses regarding VISA and plane tickets (1100 euros). If you live in France, also note that 66% of your donations are deductible from your taxes within the limit of 20% of your assessed income.
